Just In Case by Meg Rosoff

Review by Thomas Keane (Year 10) as part of the 50 Book Challenge

A boy called David Case has a 1 year old brother who almost falls out of a window and as a result of that David becomes obsessed with the fact that fate is out to kill him.   He thinks he is doomed, and changes himself, including his name and assumes a new identity (he becomes Justin Case, see what he did there?) to try and escape fate.  He meets Agnes Day who is weird and interesting and who he falls in love with.  Fate is watching though, and is ready to make life as difficult as possible for David.  Great scene at the airport where it all blows up!

This is a great book.  I liked everything about it.

A glimpse of the future

Via Tame The Web

Is this what we have coming to us soon?  This video shows some of the possibilities of screen technology.

"This is the result of TAT's Open Innovation experiment. It is an experience video showing the future of screen technology with stretchable screens, transparent screens and e-ink displays, to name a few."

The BookGang go to the movies

Last night a bunch of our BookGang members all headed out to the movies.  We went to see Tomorrow When The War Began.  Most of us had read the book or had started the book and so we were really keen to see what the movie makers had done to the story.  Here are photos of some of us at the movie armed with huge amounts of popcorn and drinks.
At the end we had a chat about what we thought of the movie versus the book, and we all agreed that the book is better, but the movie is exciting and the explosions were big enough and most of us thought the actors who played the characters were right for their parts.  We will certainly go to the movie of the next one if they make one.  Some of the members who couldn't make it to our movie night are now busy reading the books to catch up before they go to see it this weekend.  There isn't a single one of the five copies of Tomorrow when the war began in the library at the moment!

Here is the trailer of the movie for those who haven't seen it yet!
